Avaya MultiVantage Express is a complete midsize communications solution that integrates powerful applications into an affordable package that's simple to manage and use.
MultiVantage Express builds on the Avaya Communication Manager foundation, integrating messaging, mobility, unified communications, and customer contact applications onto a single S8500 server. MultiVantage Express is designed for limited IT staffs and budgets. The installation process is guided by a wizard on the install DVD and takes only two hours. A suite of included reports for call logging and call center allows companies to manage their systems efficiently. Web-based self-service applications allow employees to control their extensions and follow-me capabilities, which reduces burden on administrators.
MultiVantage Express scales from 100 to 500 users and up to 10 locations. It has capacity for 240 trunks (150 of which can be IP). Backup and restore capabilities facilitate future upgrades -MultiVantage Express provides an upgrade path to large enterprise communications systems that can provide service to thousands of users.
MultiVantage Express supports both IP and traditional telephony (DCP, analog protocols) so companies can upgrade when the time is right. A number of optional applications deliver sophisticated communications capabilities; these intelligent communications applications include Call Center Elite, Customer Interaction Express, SoftConsole, and video enablement of IP Softphone.

Introductory Call Center (up to 50 agents)
- Provides all of the ACD functionality required to operate a small call center. It includes basic conditional routing capabilities.
Video-Enabling IP Softphone

Informal Contact Center
Avaya MultiVantage Express provides basic call center functionality as a standard. IA770 – Voice and Fax Messaging with Auto Attendant
The Avaya INTUITY™ AUDIX® 770 (IA770) Messaging Application can enhance an enterprise's communication system investments with call answering and messaging capabilities embedded within MultiVantage Express. The IA770 solution delivers voice, fax and text messaging to help improve communications and simplify information exchange within enterprises.
Integrated messaging is the first step to having a unified communications solution. Users can record a spoken message, address it, and then send it to other IA770 voice messaging users. These users can receive the message on their local machine. Fax messages can be received, forwarded, sent, and viewed on the end user's PC using Message Manager. This functionality improves customer service and employee productivity.
Mobility Features
MultiVantage Express is based on Avaya Communication Manager software and provides various options for a mobile workforce. Remote workers (home users, road warriors, traveling executives) can use the IP Softphone (included as standard) with a headset, or they can use the VPN IP Phone if a physical phone on the desk is required. People that are on the road can use Extension to Cellular (included as standard) to have Communication Manager features on their mobile phones using the Avaya one-X Mobile Edition. Specific to MultiVantage Express is the ability for the user to change their Follow Me destination using a web-based interface. On-premise mobility solutions are available using Voice on Wireless LAN or IP DECT.
Access to MultiVantage Express features any time any place bolsters productivity and employee satisfaction. The ability to deploy a mobile workforce with little to no change in feature functionality or user interface eliminates the need for heavy IT support. And flexibility in design allows users to select the appropriate options based on their needs.
My Phone and Follow Me Self-service Tools
One of the ways to improve your management efficiency while maintaining the productivity benefits of the end-point applications is to empower users to manage elements of communications themselves. MyPhone, MultiVantage Express allows the user to change button programming, the display language, and the security code for the endpoint. With Follow Me, user can change their follow me destinations. Both My Phone and Follow Me have web-based interfaces.
These self-service tools decrease the total cost of ownership by reducing the amount of time required by the system administrator to optimize MultiVantage Express to individual users' needs. The tools increase productivity by enabling individuals to manage their own extensions effectively.
Call Reporting and Analysis
All CDR and BCMS data is collected and stored in a database on the server. Using the web-based interface, simple historical reports for regular call accounting or informal call centers can be created. For example, summary reports can provide Agent Summary, Split Summary, Trunk Summary, and VDN Summary. Basic Data Views include Hourly and Daily reports for Agent Data, Split Data, Trunk Data, and VDN Data.
MultiVantage Express provides an easy-to-use interface for basic reporting, delivering initial insight into expenditures for external calls. A graphical display of the reports makes for easy viewing and interpretation. Ultimately, this allows businesses to manage costs.
Self-installing DVD and Wizard-based Implementation
A basic MultiVantage Express system can be up and running in less than two hours. This is achieved with an installation DVD with setup wizards.

Call Center is built upon proven and innovative Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) technology that offers a suite of call routing and resource selection capabilities designed to help agents handle calls more effectively. The result: improved call center productivity.
Processor Ethernet - Direct Connect
Prior to Communication Manager 3.1, an S8500 Media Server required a CLAN board in a port network to provide IP connectivity to H.323 endpoints, H.248 gateways, adjuncts, and IP trunks. With Processor Ethernet in Communication Manager all IP-connected devices that required a CLAN can connect to the main server using the PE interface. For larger configurations where traffic exceeds the capacity of the Processor Ethernet interface, or in a configuration where a CLAN is already present, the Processor Ethernet interface can be used in conjunction with one or more CLANs.
Processor Ethernet eliminates the need for a G650 gateway, IPSI and CLAN when connecting H.248 Gateways (G700, G350 and G250) to a S8500 or S8400 Media Server, resulting in reduced footprint and lower cost solution.
Meet-Me Conferencing
Avaya Communication Manager supports meet-me conferencing for up to six parties without the need for additional software or hardware. Available features include far end mute, PIN code access, selective drop and conference display, to name a few. Meet-me conferencing can be available to every individual user on the system. And Expanded Meet-me conference features enable conferences of up to 300 parties.
Meet-me conferencing lowers costs associated with expensive third-party conference services. Impromptu meetings with dispersed employees and partners also boosts collaboration and productivity.

Security Issues
For security, Communication Manager supports 911 emergency services, malicious call tracking, and has security features to protect itself from toll fraud.
Administrative logins to Communication Manager can be protected using Access Security Gateway (ASG) embedded security software. Using a Data Encryption Standard (DES)-based encryption algorithm, ASG provides session-based challenge and response technology to secure access to the system administration and maintenance ports and/or logins on Communication Manager. This ASG security mechanism is used for accessing all virtual machines of MultiVantage Express.
Communication Manager media encryption provides a secure solution for environments where enhanced voice privacy over a LAN/WAN is required. The communication device uses the 104-bit Avaya Encryption Algorithm or the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt voice packets. AES is a cryptographic algorithm adopted by the U. S. Government to protect unclassified information. In addition, the signaling channel between the Media Server (media gateway controller) and H.248 Media Gateways are also encrypted.
