- Overview
The S8300 Server with a G700, G450, G350 or G250 Media Gateway provides a flexible solution for growing companies seeking to streamline voice and data operations over one networked infrastructure. It can be used as a standalone solution for a small business or as a remote edge device for a larger enterprise network ranging between 8 to 450 stations.
What's New With This Release
With Communication Manager 5.0, the S8300C Server now supports co-residency of Communication Manager and SIP Enablement Services. This is Avaya's first all-in-one SIP/H.323/TDM solution. SIP capacity is limited to 100 users.
- Description
The S8300 Server resides inside a G700, G450, G350 or G250 Media Gateway. It can be used as a standalone communication system or as a fully survivable remote gateway. The S8300 can be the primary controller for up to 50 remote G250, G350, G450 and G700 Media Gateways.
As with the S8400, S8500 and S8700 series Servers, the S8300 supports the Linux operating system and it is powered by Communication Manager. It supports industry standard call control, quality of service, management functions, and IP, digital, and analog endpoints.
New with Release 5.0 is the ability to run both Communication Manager and SIP Enablement Services on the same S8300 Server. This provides a complete, all in one H.323, SIP and TDM solution for small to mid sized businesses and branch locations of larger businesses.

- This material code provides an Intel Celeron-based processor complex that runs the Linux operating system in the form factor of a Media Module.

USB Modem
- This modem is required and used for sending alarm notification to the appropriate technical support organizations as well as for remotely accessing the switch for administration and maintenance activities.
S8300/S8400 DVD/CD ROM Drive
- An external DVD/CD-ROM drive with a USB interface or TFTP server installed on the technicians laptop will be required for software installation. This tool can also be used to upgrade remote S8300 LSPs.
Compact Flash Reader
- This material includes an external Compact Flash Reader plus Compact flash.

Integrated Messaging
- The INTUITY AUDIX 770 (IA770) Messaging Solution is a voice mail system used with an S8300 Media Server. IA770 messaging is a software only version of INTUITY AUDIX messaging that uses a QSIG-MWI H.323 virtual trunk for communication between Communication Manager and IA770 Software.

Compliance
Support for Section 508
- Avaya Universal Access Phone Status assists visually impaired users manage voice communications. For instance, the application can announce an incoming caller via the PC speakers through text-to-speech conversion. Universal Access Phone Status is available at no extra cost and helps answer Section 508 access requirements for visually impaired VoIP endpoint users.
- The Avaya TTY-on-IP solution permits voice and TTY to be mixed on the same call. This feature enables Avaya to comply with Titles II, III, and IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Sections 251 and 255 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and Section 508 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 for a pure IP solution.

Hardware Requirements
S8300 Installation in G700
- The physical installation for the S8300 Media Server module will be the same as other medial modules. The S8300 Media Server still plugs into a Media Module slot but is restricted to the left most slot under the LED board and panel. When installing or removing the Avaya S8300 Media Server, the S8300 and LED board must be removed as a single unit. This is because the LED faceplate/panel will hit the tall components on the S8300, resulting in damage to the hardware, if it is not removed at the same time.
- Software licenses must be purchased to activate the S8300. This software will allow the S8300 to be used as a server or as a Local Survivable Processor (LSP).
Communication Manager 4.0 LINUX Unity Software CD
- With 4.0, the Linux servers will continue to have a common software CD that can be used to install or upgrade all the Linux servers and gateways.
- For new systems SAP material code 700414972 should be used and for upgrades SAP material code 700414980 can be used.
S8300 CD ROM Drive or Avaya TFTP Server Software on a Laptop
- The technician or BusinessPartner will install Communication Manager via CD/DVD ROM Drive. A laptop can also be used providing the TFTP server has been installed.
- Upgrading Communication Manager to release 4.0 will also require the CD/DVD ROM Drive or you must have Avaya TFTP server software installed on the technicians laptop. You can obtain the software from the Avaya support website.
Note: You can use either the TEAC or Panasonic version of drives.
