- Overview
The EFI MicroPress for Canon maximizes productivity for print environments ranging from corporate workgroups to high-volume Print-on-Demand operations. The Canon MicroPress offers advanced make-ready tools, maximum throughput and unmatched quality in a scalable solution for Canon's imageRUNNER and CLC production print systems.
Casual and production-oriented POD environments require advanced job-management and printing capabilities to optimize their workflow. The Canon MicroPress provides these advanced capabilities to fill the void created by the limited feature set available on most embedded and server-based controllers. With the job-management capabilities of the Canon MicroPress, users can calculate toner coverage on a page-by-page or job basis, export job information to third-party billing tools, preview jobs prior to printing, archive jobs for future use, and schedule jobs for future processing.
The EFI MicroPress for Canon is built upon the latest proven technologies to provide productivity, scalability and flexibility with a broad range of connectivity options. These functions allow users to maximize their initial investment while providing a growth path for future demands.
- Features
- The Canon MicroPress SX and DX provide support for up to four black-and-white devices and up to two color devices.
- The Canon MicroPress MX provides support for up to twelve black-and-white devices and up to five color devices.
- TRuePrint allows the job to be printed at rated engine speed, maximizing throughput for each device.
- TRueRecover is a page and job-level recovery feature that maximizes downtime and wasted pages.
- Rapid Reprints eliminates network transfer and reprocessing time that is needed for additional prints.
- TRueEdit is a powerful server-based feature that easily creates customized documents beyond the RIP job capabilities of application software.
- Booklets can be easily created with the Imposition feature of the MicroPress. Imposition allows for sophisticated output with minimum preparation.
- TRueForms saves time and money by eliminating the need for address labels, improving customer response with personalization.
- Preview jobs on-screen prior to printing to save time and reduce paper waste.
- Annotation and Archiving features allow you to improve productivity by tracking and storing jobs.
- The Notifications feature will notify the operator of any troubles with a particular job, minimizing downtime and preventing emergencies.
- Color Adjust allows the operator to change a job's brightness, contrast, or apply a custom curve to meet user preferences and reprint without the need to reRIP the file.
- Supported Applications
Annotations
The Annotation feature enables users to enter special notes and/or instructions on a page-by-page basis after the MicroPress has processed the document. Users are able to search across all processed documents to find all pages matching the search criteria. Annotation also supports PDF annotation for files that are processed for output or converted to PDF format using the PSM to PDF utility software. After adding the annotations, there is no need to reRIP the modified document.
Archiving
The Archiving feature allows users to save jobs in a print-ready state by compressing and storing them on the MicroPress server, the network, or removable media such as a floppy disk, CD, ZIP, etc. Users can store files in a print-ready format to eliminate process time for reprints.
Users can also archive to the industry standard PDF format. When a print-ready document is archived to PDF, customers can view the document to ensure its accuracy prior to un-archiving and printing.
Color and Black-and-White Splitting
The MicroPress can automatically detect documents with a mixture of color and black-and-white pages and send each to the appropriate device.
Imposition
Imposition allows users to create booklets by positioning multiple pages of a job onto a single larger sheet in the correct orientation for finishing. It is ideal for creating booklets with sheets from statement size to 11" x 17".
Users can save time via automatic ordering of pages, and create sophisticated output with minimal prep-time regardless of the capabilities of the original application.
OCR and MicroTIFF
OCR and MicroTIFF are optional items for the MicroPress SX and DX. OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition and allows users to convert print-ready files back into editable format such as TXT. MicroTIFF allows users to convert TIFF files into the print-ready format of the MicroPress. This software utility automates the individual or batch processing of stored TIFF image files. This utility processes and prepares black-and-white TIFF files for printing without going through the RIP, thus offering increased productivity.
Rapid Reprints
Through Rapid Reprints, once jobs are printed they do not have to be reprocessed. This eliminates network transfer and reprocessing time for additional prints.
TRueColor Suite
TRueColor Suite is a suite of sophisticated color management tools which help ensure that color is accurate and consistent from day-to-day. Gammatic calibrates single and multiple devices to ensure consistent page-to-page and device-to-device color. ICC Profile Processor is a tool that provides accurate RGB to CMYK color conversion, as well as support for custom profiles. Color Adjust enables easy adjustment of a job's brightness, contrast and color tint with a click of a button.
TRueEdit
With TRueEdit, users can make changes to print-ready files (color and black-and-white) without returning to native application software. This includes cut and paste, add objects, crop, move text and images, re-order and delete pages, and prepare and insert tabs functions.
TRueForms
Previously known as VariableForms, this feature enables users to apply variable data (both text and graphics) on top of static forms (ideal for job personalization, customization, and one-to-one marketing). Static forms and variable data may be single or multiple pages and can be applied according to page ranges.
TRueForms also offers a Mail Merge capabilitiy that provides for the application of variable data on a selected page of a document (for example, the last page of a newsletter can be imprinted with a name and address). This Mail Merge capability delivers faster processing and throughput speed since it only processes the one page of the form that is receiving the variable data. After using TRueForms, there is no need to reRIP the modified document.
TRueScript
TRueScript allows common tasks to be automated through Visual Basic scripts to eliminate repetitive job set-up and streamline work functions.
